Two shopping malls in Punjab received bomb threats via emails on Monday, police said.

VR (Virtuous Retail) Punjab, a shopping mall located on the Chandigarh-Kharar Road, received bomb threat around 3 pm.

According to police, searches were conducted at the mall following information of the bomb threat but nothing objectionable was found.

Kharar DSP Karan Singh Sandhu said, "Thorough searches were conducted at the VR Mall in the afternoon but nothing objectionable was found. Bomb disposal and anti-sabotage teams, and sniffer dogs were sent to the site and the mall was evacuated."

Investigations are under way, Sandhu added.

Meanwhile, a mall in Amritsar also got a similar threat.
