Two techies from Chandigarh die in Panipat hit-&-run

In a case of hit-and-run, two city residents were killed after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into the divider on a flyover on the NH-44 in Samalkha here on Thursday. They were engineers by profession and worked at the IT Park in Chandigarh.

The victims, identified as 25-year-old Deepak and 22-year-old Chitrakshi of Sector 30-B, were on their way from Chandigarh to Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh when a vehicle hit their bike before speeding away.

As per the information available, Deepak and Chitrakshi, who were neighbours, had left their homes for Vrindavan on Thursday morning. While they were crossing the Manana flyover, some vehicle passing by hit their bike from a side.

Both bike riders sustained serious injuries in the mishap. Commuters rushed them to the civil hospital in Panipat where doctors declared them dead.

The bodies have been kept in the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

The Samalkha police reached the spot on getting information about the incident. The police have registered a case against the driver of the unidentified vehicle involved in the fatal accident and started an investigation into it.
