The police arrested two Moradabad youths after recovering 3.25 kg opium from them at the Mubarikpur bus stand in Dera Bassi.

Sharing further details about the incident, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Charanjit Singh of the Dera Bassi police station said the drugs were recovered from one of the accused's backpack upon checking.

The accused have been identified as Sagar Kumar, 24, a resident of Asalatpur village in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh. He is a Class VIII pass-out and has no criminal case registered against him in the past.

The second accused, Chirag, 21, is a resident of Ram Nagla village in Moradabad, currently staying in Mataur, Sector 71, Mohali. He is a Class IX pass-out.

Meanwhile, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against them at the Dera Bassi police station.

"The accused were remanded in police custody," said SP (Operation) Talwinder Singh Gill.
