UBS alumni gather to celebrate golden jubilee

The University Business School (UBS), Panjab University, celebrated its golden jubilee, silver jubilee and decade alumni meet on Sunday, bringing together alumni from the batches of 1975, 2000 and 2015 for a day of nostalgia, reflection and renewed commitment to the institution’s future.

Held at the Law Auditorium and the UBS campus, the event highlighted the school’s five-decade legacy and the global footprint of its alumni. Around 200 former students from across India and abroad participated, many of them holding senior leadership positions in multinational corporations, government organisations, public sector undertakings, academia and entrepreneurial ventures.

The meet was organised under the chairmanship of Prof Parmjit Kaur, with Prof Rupinder Bir Kaur, faculty coordinator of Alumni Relations, overseeing coordination. Chandigarh UT Finance Secretary Diprava Lakra inaugurated the meet as chief guest, while Prof Yojna Rawat, Dean of University Instructions, Panjab University, presided over the function. Guests of honour included Chetan Khanna, Chief Human Resources Officer, Kale Logistics Solutions, and Sukeerat Singh Gill, Assistant Vice President and Head of HR, Airtel.

Eminent alumni leaders, including Kuldeep Kaul, founding member of the UBS Alumni Association, and its president Anurag Aggarwal, addressed the gathering. Senior and former faculty members, including Prof SC Vaidya, Prof AK Vashisht and Prof Meenakshi Malhotra, were also present.

Welcoming the alumni, Prof Parmjit Kaur emphasised the vital role played by former students in UBS’s growth, describing a strong alumni network as “the key to excellence and sustained growth”. She outlined alumni contributions ranging from infrastructure support and placements to mentoring, guest lectures and participation in admissions and examinations.

She also highlighted UBS’s academic and industry engagements, including management conclaves, multi-day panel discussions with leading business figures and the annual international conference, the next edition of which is scheduled for March 2026. Announcing the launch of a new MBA programme in Business Data Analytics this academic year, she described it as a strategic response to evolving global business needs.

In his address, Lakra spoke on the changing dynamics of the business world and urged students to look up to alumni as role models while building strong professional networks. He said true management education extended beyond rules to include resilience and lifelong learning.

Presiding over the event, Prof Rawat congratulated UBS on its achievements and encouraged students to pursue holistic development beyond the classroom. Khanna shared insights on AI and automation, observing that institutions achieve greatness through values, ethics and discipline rather than infrastructure alone.
