Udhayveer Sidhu of PU claims shooting gold
Panjab University shooter Udhayveer Sidhu claimed gold in the men’s 25m rapid fire pistol (individual) event on the concluding day of the All-India Inter University Shooting Championship at Phase 6, Mohali. He scored 584 points to claim the top podium position.
His brother, Vijayveer Sidhu, representing the same university, bagged silver with a score of 582. Rajkanwar Sandhu of Lovely Professional University claimed third position with 580 points.
In the team event, Panjab University (1,723) shooters claimed the top position. Udhayveer (584), Vijayveer (582) and Abhimanyu Yadav (557) represented the university. The team of Delhi University (1,685), Harsh Gupta (567), Agneya Kaushik (566) and Karan Chauhan (552), claimed second position, followed by KLEF University (1,685) shooters Mukesh Nelavalli (574), Naga Sai Tarun (556) and Tanishq Muralidhar Naidu (555) at third position.
In the air rifle mixed team event, the shooters of Veer Narmad University, Gujarat, claimed the top position with a score of 632.1. The team was represented by Panchal Dhauvi Ashish (316) and Moradiya Smit Rameshbhai (316). Narmada Nithin (315) and Sri Karthik Sabari Raj (314) helped the University of Madras claim second position with a total score of 629.3, while Panjab University team of Disha Dhankar (314) and Surya Pratap Singh Bansthtu (314) ended at third position with 628 points.
Arjun Singh Cheema of Lovely Professional University claimed the men’s 500m free pistol gold by scoring 561 points, followed by Panjab University’s Olympian shooter Sarabjot Singh (560) at second position, and Kamaljeet Singh (554) of Lovely Professional University at third position. In the team event, Lovely Professional University team claimed the top position with a score of 1,657 points. The team was represented by Arjun Singh Cheema (561), Kamaljeet Singh (554) and Rajkanwar Sandhu (542). Panjab University shooters Sarabjot Singh (560), Aditya Malra (553) and Manav Singh (528) claimed second position with a total score of 1,641 points. Amit Sharma (544), Umesh Choudhary (543) and Aryan Kumar (523) helped Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, attain third position with 1,610 points.
