Six bike-borne masked men allegedly robbed an accountant of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) of Rs2.34 lakh after throwing chilli powder into his eyes while he was on his way to a bank after collecting bill payments from Billah village in Barwala block.
The victim, Satnam Singh (19), a resident of Ambala, said he was deployed in the Raipur Rani UHBVN office.
Around 2.50 pm, he was on his way to deposit the money in the Mattawali branch of the SBI after collecting payments when the miscreants intercepted him under the Mattawali flyover and fled with the money.
He said the men came on bikes and threw chilli power into his eyes.
They then hit the victim’s bike and he fell on the ground. The suspects were also carrying sharp weapons.
One of them attacked the victim with a sharp weapon, which left his ear injured. The victim tried to run away to save his life, but the suspects got hold of him. They took away the cash bag from him.
A case was registered under Sections 395 (punishment for dacoity) and 397 (robbery or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt) of the IPC at the Chandimandir police station. — TNS
