Unified grievance portal in the offing

The UT Administration is planning to launch a unified grievance portal for complaints against different departments.

This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav during a meeting of the Chandigarh Residents Associations’ Welfare Federation (CRAWFED) held at the Community Centre in Sector 21 here today.

Yadav said residents had been asking the Administration to launch a portal where they could file complaints. He said the Chief Secretary had already discussed it at a meeting. The DC said they would make efforts to start the portal within a month.

Responding to issues raised by representatives of Residents Welfare Associations (RWAs), he said a majority of works of the Estate Office were being shifted online. The DC said the numbers of visitors to the Estate Office had fallen by 40% following the launch of the auto mutation system.

Yadav also assured a quick resolution of minor property-related objections and stated that proceedings were underway to close 600 such files. He further assured that soon, a lounge would be set up for citizens visiting the Estate Office. He assured a reduction in the per-day penalty for violations in residential properties after allowing violators time to either get them removed or regularised.

Satija from Sector 23 demanded cleaning of N-Choe and closure of Sehaj Safai Kendras in the city. A representative of Indira Colony in Manimajra strongly sought a playground in the colony. Representatives from Sectors 11, 13 and 61 raised the issues pertaining to their areas and submitted memorandums to the DC.

Meanwhile, CRAWFED chairman Hitesh Puri declared a list of office-bearers of the federation for the next three years. Ex-Mayor Anoop Gupta, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal chairman Charanjiv Singh and nominated councillor Satinder Singh were also present at the meeting.
