Union Minister to visit Chandigarh on June 10
Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of four major development projects in the city on June 10.
During the visit, the minister will also hold meetings with administrative officials and review the progress of Central Government schemes.
He will inaugurate North India’s largest floating solar power plant at Sector 39 Water Works.
The 2.5 MW peak capacity solar plant has been set up by the Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST), a part of the Union Territory’s plan to generate 15 MWp more solar power by the year-end. Constructed at a cost of about Rs 24 crore, the plant will not only generate renewable energy, but will also reduce water evaporation.
Bandi will lay the foundation stone for the construction of 144 modern flats for police personnel in Dhanas. A total of 144 Type-II houses will be built to cater to the growing residential needs of the Chandigarh Armed Police. To be built at a cost of Rs 53.56 crore, the project will have six towers with stilt parking and four flats on each floor.
The Union Minister will inaugurate the new building of Government Senior Secondary School at Kajeri, constructed at a cost of about Rs 11 crore. The school with 33 classrooms had been a major demand of people of the area for a long time.
The minister will also inaugurate a new 256-bed hostel building at Government College of Commerce and Business Administration, Sector 50.
