Girish Dayalan, District Magistrate, Mohali, today imposed a ban on use of drones within Mohali limits.

The District Magistrate, in exercise of the powers vested under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), issued the orders that would remain in force from January 20 to January 27.

The ban had been imposed in anticipation of the VVIP movement in the district in view of the Republic Day celebrations.

Considering the presence of an Air Force Station adjoins the border of the District and the international airport, the VVIP movement, and important institutions in the district, the use of drones poses a grave security threat.

Furthermore, many VVIPs are expected to attend the Republic Day function on January 26 which further calls for a complete ban on the drone.

The ban also restricts the use of drones in marriage functions, shooting of movies and music video producers shooting in the district.
