Chandigarh, March 21
The UT Administration has withdrawn the exemption given to wedding functions from the ban of gathering of over 100 persons to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Earlier, planned marriages were exempted from the ban imposed on gathering of over 100 persons at social, cultural, political, religious and family mass functions.
Yesterday, the Administration banned the gathering of 50 or more persons at such events till March 31. The Administration had also advised residents to inform on helpline number 112 about any individual, who, at present, is in Chandigarh and has arrived from any foreign country in the past 15 days, so that necessary preventive measures could be taken.
The UT also advised residents to take all precautions as per the instructions issued by the government from time to time and avoid sharing unverified information in the social media. On an appeal made by the Prime Minister for ‘Janata Curfew’, all local and long-route bus services of Chandigarh Transport Undertaking will remain suspended on Sunday.
In case anybody wants information with respect to coronavirus, MyGov Corona Helpdesk can be contacted on WhatsApp number 90131 51515, toll-free number 1075 and Chandigarh helpline number 112 or 9779558282.
The Administration has also appealed to those residents who have returned from abroad recently or who were in contact with positive cases and are suspecting symptoms/infections that they should not come to hospital straightaway. They can call the helpline No. 112. A dedicated team will go, check them at their place and, if necessary, shift them to hospital.
