UT Chief Engineer inspects road re-carpeting, repair work

Instructs engineering teams to strictly follow the approved timelines so that projects can be completed on schedule

To facilitate smooth traffic flow across the city, an intensive inspection of roads undergoing re-carpeting and repair work was conducted, based on which these were categorised as very poor, poor, or satisfactory.

Repair and re-carpeting work was being undertaken accordingly, officials said, while adding that the UT Administration was taking all necessary steps to ensure the timely completion of repair and re-carpeting work on major roads, including V1, V2, and V3.

A site inspection of the ongoing works was carried out today by UT Chief Engineer CB Ojha, along with Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers concerned at various locations in the city. Talking to officials they emphasised that all work must meet strict quality standards and adhere to prescribed specifications to ensure the durability and safety of roads.

“Regular sampling and material checks are being conducted as required, and third-party inspections by independent agencies are also underway to ensure high-quality execution of the re-carpeting work,” they said.

Ojha instructed engineering teams to strictly follow the approved timelines so that projects could be completed on schedule. He highlighted the importance of proper supervision, timely monitoring, and adherence to technical specifications at every stage of the work.

“The Chandigarh Administration remains committed to providing smooth, safe, and well-maintained road infrastructure to residents, and continues to make every effort to upgrade major roads in a phased and efficient manner,” he said.
