The UT Health Department celebrated World Polio Day at the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the city’s polio-free status. The event, held at the Model Immunisation Centre, highlighted the region’s achievements in vaccination coverage and disease surveillance.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Suman Singh, Director Health Services, UT, in the presence of senior officials. Dr Manjeet, District Immunisation Officer, presented key milestones achieved by Chandigarh’s Immunisation Department in the fight against polio.

Recognising UT’s outstanding accomplishments, the Centre has exempted Chandigarh from conducting Sub-National Immunisation Rounds of the Pulse Polio campaign — making it the only State/UT in the country to receive this distinction. Dignitaries administered polio drops to children.
