On the pattern of neighbouring Mohali and Panchkula, the UT Administration is also considering extending the timings of the night curfew in the city to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

Now, the curfew timings in Mohali are from 6 pm to 5 am. In Panchkula, all shops of non-essential have to close by 6 pm and the curfew timings are from 10 pm to 5 am.
A senior UT official said to bring in uniformity in the timings of closing the markets and to restrict the movement of people, they were planning to extend the timings of the curfew by three hours. However, the final decision will be taken during a meeting to be chaired by UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore tomorrow. At present, the curfew in the UT starts at 9 pm and ends at 5 am. However, he said they would take a call at the meeting regarding which pattern was to be followed, that of Mohali or Panchkula.
