All-round performance by Devang Kaushik helped Chandigarh register a thumping 215-run win over Bihar in a match of the Men’s U-23 One Day Trophy (Elite Group) played at the JSCA Oval Ground, Ranchi.
After winning the toss, Chandigarh opted to bat first and posted 428 runs in 50 overs. The top and middle order dominated the opposition with four half centuries. Opener Dipender Kush anchored the innings with 93 off 95 balls (eight fours and two sixes). He was well supported by Raghav Verma (59), as the pair added a vital 139-run stand for the second wicket.
Later, Kaushik blazed his way to 87 off just 52 balls, including seven fours and five sixes, while skipper-wicketkeeper Aarush Bhandari hammered a quickfire 46 off 22 balls. The late fireworks came from Abhishek Singh, who smashed 50 off 15 balls at a strike rate of 333 by hitting four fours and five sixes.
In reply, Bihar were bundled out for 213 in 36.5 overs. Devang Kaushik (5/25) starred with the ball, while Jaskirat Singh Mehra (2/28) and Sahibjeet Billing (1/28) also contributed crucial breakthroughs.
