The UT Administration has released a list of 267 empanelled private architects for self-certification of building plans.
For approval of the residential and industrial building plans, the owners will be able to get self-certification from the empanelled architects.
After commercial properties, the Chandigarh Administration had extended the self-certification scheme for the approval of building plans of residential properties as well.
With the implementation of the scheme, the owner of up to two kanal plot can start the construction of the house within 15 days of submitting the certified plan by registered architects.
The architect will submit the plan certifying that these adhere to the requirements as laid down under the building rules, giving a 15-day notice to the competent authority for granting approval.
The construction can be started after the notice period in case the competent authority does not convey any objection to the applicant.
However, the Estate Officer will have the power to check the construction of the building at any time. If any violations are found, then action will be taken against the owners.
