Valet driver accidentally fires gunshot at parking lot in city

A gunshot was accidentally fired by a valet driver in the basement parking of Elante in the Industrial Area here on Tuesday evening.

The police said two persons from Mohali had gone to the Nexa showroom at the mall to see a car. They had handed over their vehicle to Nexa’s valet driver, Sahil. The car’s occupants had left a licensed firearm inside the vehicle. Out of curiosity, the valet driver picked up the weapon, which accidentally discharged, hitting a car parked nearby.

Cops rushed to the spot on getting information and initiated an investigation. “We will initiate an action against Sahil upon receiving a complaint,” said a police officer.

Elante released a statement after the incident. It stated, “We are aware of the incident involving a valet driver at the Nexa showroom where he accidentally discharged a pistol in the parking lot. We would like to clarify that while this incident took place in the parking space allotted to Nexa, the mall itself is in no way connected with the events that unfolded.”
