Valuables stolen from car at PGI

Chandigarh: Car accessories and valuables were stolen from a car at the PGI. The complainant, Apurva Kaushal, a nursing officer at the PGI, stated that she had parked her car in the staff parking on the night of February 1. The next day, she found her car opened and the woofer system, the spare wheel and other valuables stolen. TNS

Man arrested for robbery

Chandigarh: A man has been arrested for robbing his neighbour of Rs10,000 after entering his house at Mauli Jagran. According to the police, the complainant, Suraj Pal of Mauli Jagran Complex, alleged that the suspect, Sanjay, alias Bali, came to his house and thrashed him. The suspect also robbed him of Rs10,000 after threatening him with a sharp weapon. TNS

Thieves strike at club in Sector 26

Chandigarh: Thieves decamped with Rs2.60 lakh and two tablets from a night club in Sector 26 here. The complainant, Deepesh Kumar Dhiman, GM of Brew Estate Club, Sector 26, reported that the staff opened the club on February 2 and found the lock at the rear entry of the café missing. On entering the premises, the staff found the lock of cash counter broken. The safe under the counter was stolen. As per the complainant, thieves took away Rs2.60 lakh and two computer tablets. A case has been registered at the Sector 26 police station. The police said the footage of CCTV cameras installed outside the club and nearby showrooms was being scrutinised to identify the thieves. Two held with 30-gram heroin

Ambala: The police have arrested two persons – Sachin Kumar and Amit Kumar of Ambala – and claimed to have recovered 30 grams of heroin from their possession, officials said here on Monday. According to the police, both suspects were intercepted on a tip-off at a check post near the Mandour T-point in Panjokhra. Their search yielded the contraband. The suspects will be produced before a local court on Tuesday, the officials added. TNS

Biker killed, four hurt in mishaps

Ambala” A motorcyclist was killed while four persons suffered serious injuries in road mishaps in different parts of the district during the past 24 hours, the police said here on Monday. Ramtosh (25) of Panchkula was killed when a car hit his motorcycle near the Bararpur bus stand in Shahzadpur. In a separate mishap, Surinder Singh, Beer Bhan and a woman suffered injuries when a bus hit their car near Naggal. In another accident, Joginder Singh of Yamunanagar was injured when a car hit his scooter near the grain market in Barara. TNS
