Patiala, March 3
The Punjabi University Teachers’ Association (PUTA) has now decided to hold protests over university’s inability to end ad hocism, ensure crediting of salaries and pension into accounts of the recipients in time and other demands.
President of the PUTA, Dr Jaswinder Singh Brar said their demands, including payments of dearness allowance for the year 2013-14, providing salaries to employees as per increment, transfer of pension amounts from New Pension Scheme accounts to the general pension scheme accounts of employees and others have not been met for long. “The university has also failed to credit pensions and salaries of employees in their accounts in time,” he said.
The members have also raised questions over running the University on adhoc basis. PUTA Secretary Dr Gurnam Singh Virk said, “The charge of dean, academics has been given to the officer holding charge of Dean, Academics on an additional basis. The charge of director planning and monitoring has also been allocated in a similar manner. We have raised demands with the university administration to implement a policy of one post for one person that could decrease the workload on officials and help run the University easily.”
The faculty members said they would start holding protests outside the office of Vice-Chancellor Dr BS Ghuman from Wednesday.
