The Chandigarh Beopar Mandal (CBM) has asked the UT Excise and Taxation Department to ensure due verification and scrutiny of records before issuing tax notices.
A delegation led by CBM president Sanjeev Chadha called on Mohd Mansoor, Secretary, Excise and Taxation, UT, and discussed several key issues concerning them with the official.
Diwakar Sahoonja, vice-chairman-cum-spokesperson of the CBM, said during the meeting, the traders’ body urged the official to prioritise resolving their long-pending demands such as one-time settlement scheme for old VAT assessment cases.
Charanjiv Singh, Kiran Narad Mohit Sood and Sunil Gupta were part of the delegation.
Mansoor assured the delegation that all pending issues would be resolved expeditiously and scheduled a follow-up meeting for a month later to discuss progress and guidelines.
