Vice-Prez to address convocation at Panjab University on Dec 13

Students announce massive protest against ‘controversial’ affidavit

Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, who is also Chancellor of Panjab University, will address the university’s 73rd Annual Convocation on December 13.

This will be Radhakrishnan’s first official visit to the university after assuming charge as Vice President.

During the ceremony, doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred upon successful candidates from various faculties. Meritorious students will also be honoured with medals and awards.

“It is an honour and a privilege for the Panjab University fraternity to welcome Vice-President and Chancellor CP Radhakrishnan on his first official visit to the university. We have started detailed preparations for the convocation to make it a memorable and dignified occasion. His presence and address will undoubtedly motivate and inspire our graduating students to contribute meaningfully to the progress of the nation and the world,” said Vice-Chancellor Prof Renu Vig.

PU Registrar Prof Y Verma also conducted a meeting to plan the guest reception and ensure campus readiness for the successful conduct of the convocation.

The meeting was attended by Controller of Examinations Prof Jagat Bhushan, Chairpersons of various committees, and key officers of the University.

Meanwhile, students have announced a massive protest against the university authorities demanding rollback of the “controversial” affidavit. The students will start the protest by marking strike outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office.

The authorities had asked the students to submit an affidavit confirming that they will not hold protests without prior approval and comply with specified restrictions on location and conduct.
