Vihaan moves ahead in badminton tourney

Vihaan defeated Abhideep (21-11, 21-13) to move ahead in the boys’ U-15 singles event during the ongoing 16th Ashwani Gupta Memorial District Badminton Championship at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here today.

Akshay recorded an easy (21-12, 21-13) win over Aryan Makkar. In the girls’ U-15 category, Bhavna defeated Osheen (21-4, 21-4), whereas Ananya Saini thrashed Avni (21-11, 21-15). Ishan Sihag marched ahead in the boys’ U-17 event by defeating Saksham (21-10, 21-9), while Kunal defeated Sameer (21-18, 14-21, 21-16).

In the girls’ U-17 category, Vinita Panchal defeated Jyoti (21-11, 21-8) and Nikita blanked Urvashi (21-12, 21-15). Sihag registered second win of the championship by defeating Saksham (21-2, 21-3) in a boys’ U-19 category match, whereas Shubham faced a tough resistance from Kushagra before logging a (22-20, 19-21, 24-22) win.

In the boys’ U-15 doubles category, Akshay and Abhideep defeated Ramvijay and Abhimanyu (21-11, 21-8), while Vihan and Aryan defeated Rajat and Keshav (21-13, 21-11).
