State masters’ gold medallist Vijayendra Kumar has been picked as the new president by the Chandigarh Badminton Association (CBA) during their annual general meeting at the UT Guest House. Vijayendra, who is Principal Secretary, Haryana Government, had last year represented the city in the Masters’ National Championship held in Haryana.

Meanwhile, the annual general meeting was attended by all affiliated units and members. The election to various posts of executive committee was held and all officials were unanimously elected to various posts. Former international coach, Surinder Mahajan has been elected as senior vice-president (administration), while Col Raj Parmar has been picked as senior vice-president (technical and events).

For the first time in its motive to promote female representation in badminton, the CBA house approved appointment of former badminton player Geeta Aggarwal as the honorary secretary of the association. The outgoing president Priyank Bharti has been nominated as patron of the association.

Ravinder Talwar, Sandeep Rishi, Rakesh Malik, Col Rajeev Mehta, Amarinder S Kang and Rajneesh Bhatia have been appointed as vice-presidents, while TPS Puri will be the adviser to the CBA. Paras Gupta has been appointed as treasurer. Akash Sethi, Pankaj Nathania and Naresh Kundu have been appointed as joint secretary, while Vikas Mahajan, Haroon Rashid, Vijay Sharma, Mala Gaba, Sargun R Arora and Dr Anju Lata have been made members. Vivek Sharma and Bhuvan Sethi have been appointed as technical advisers.
