The district witnessed three more Covid-19 deaths today, taking the toll to 49.

A 64-year-old man from Badh Majra died at Max Hospital, while a 70-year-old woman from Dera Bassi succumbed to the virus at the GMCH, Patiala. An 80-year-old man from Bhabat died of coronavirus at Command Hospital, Chandimandir. All patients had multiple comorbidities. Meanwhile, 144 persons tested positive for Covid-19 today, taking the tally to 2,561. The fresh cases include 53 from Mohali city, 35 from Kharar, 28 from Dera Bassi and nine each from Zirakpur and Dhakoli. Four persons from Kurali, three from Lalru, two from Banur and one from Gharuan were also found infected. There are 1,201 active cases in the district while 1,311 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospital. — TNS
