Vishal, Pelf win Table Tennis titles

Vishal defeated Pritish in a tough outing 14-12, 11-7, 15-17, 12-10 to win the boys’ U-19 singles title during the 2nd Chandigarh State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament-2024 organised by the Chandigarh Table Tennis Association at the Sector 23 TT Hall.
In the semifinal, runners-up Pritish struggled hard to defeat Samarth11-8, 9-11, 6-11, 11-7,11-8, whereas Vishal easily overpowered Neelesh 11-8, 11-3, 11-8. Before advancing further, Vishal defeated Kritansh 11-4, 14-12, 11-8, Samarth ousted Vihan 11-8, 10-12, 11-6, 11-3, Pritish defeated Aditya 12-10, 11-8, 11-7 and Neelesh managed to defeat Vadya 4-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-3, 11-7 in the quarterfinal.
Pelf won the girls’ U-19 title, as she overpowered a tough challenge by Vani. She lost the first game 7-11, but levelled in the next with an 11-8 verdict. Vani again marched into the lead by logging an 8-11 win. However, Pelf recorded an 11-9, 11-9 win to bag the title. In semis, Vani defeated Teetiksha 11-6, 11-6, 11-7 and Pelf ousted Cherrish 11-13, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7. Vani earlier defeated Paridhi 11-4, 11-4, 11-4 in the quarterfinal, while Cherrish defeated Anjali 11-3, 11-3, 11-3, Teetiksha ousted Sherell 13-11, 5-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-4 and Pelf defeated Pratiti 11-4, 11-6, 11-6.
Vani took a sweet revenge of her defeat in the U-19 category as she posted an 11-8, 11-7, 12-10 against Pelf to win the women’s final. Before setting up the title clash, Vani defeated Cherrish 11-7, 9-11, 11-6, 11-8 and Pelf outplayed Teetiksha 9-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-6. In quarterfinal, Vani defeated Pavan 11-2, 11-3, 11-8, Cherrish outplayed Prabhleen 8-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-5, Teetiksha defeated Sherell 12-10, 11-13, 11-9, 11-7 and Pelf outplayed Tanisha 11-6, 11-8, 11-6.
Meanwhile, in a see-saw battle, Ankush overpowered Vadya 13-11, 11-5, 12-14, 10-12, 11-5 to grab the men’s title. In the semis, Ankush defeated Samarth 11-6, 13-11, 8-11, 11-7 and Vadya overpowered Sahil 11-6, 11-13, 11-6, 11-9. Sahil defeated Vishal 13-11, 5-11, 5-11, 19-17, 11-6, Samarth ousted Pritish 5-11, 11-13, 11-7, 11-8, 11-9, Ankush defeated Neelesh 11-9, 11-3, 11-6 and Vadya overpowered Pawan 11-9, 9-11 11-7, 11-7 in quarterfinal matches. — TNS
