Vishav in lead as Shubham slips

Chandigarh, March 4
Chandigarh’s Vishav Pratap Gill shot an even-par 72 to claim the halfway lead in the Samarvir Sahi Golf Championship at the Chandigarh Golf Club here today.
Gill (67-72) is two shots ahead of Haryana’s Varoon Parmar, who shot a 1-under 71 for a two-day total of 141.
Another Chandigarh golfer, Sunny, is a couple of shots further behind in third place, while Delhi’s Aniket Sawant shot the day’s best score of 5-under 67 to jump 37 places to tied-4th.
Sawant is accompanied by Maharashtra’s Rohan Dhole Patil (68-76) and overnight leader Shubham Jaglan (66-78) at par-144.
Haryana’s Rohan Singh Rana (70-75) and Karnataka’s Aryan Roopa Anand (70-75) shared the seventh place. Delhi’s Daksh Shokeen (74-72) and Uttar Pradesh’s Hari Mohan Singh (78-69) completed the top-10.
The halfway cut fell at 154 and 46 golfers made it to the third round.
Golf camp for women on march 8
Mohali: The Mohali Golf Range will organise an a free golf camp and competition for women on March 8 — International Women’s Day. “We have organised free camps for women in the past and many of our young girls, including the likes of Ojaswani Saraswat, Puneet Grewal and Ira Jamwal, are doing well,” said Shalini Kahlon, director, Castle Sports Mohali Golf Range. The camp and the competition will be conducted by senior coach Preetinder Kaur. The interested golfers need to register for the camp before March 7. TNS
