In a spirited display of public health advocacy, the Department of General Surgery, PGIMER, in collaboration with the Vascular Society of India (VSI), organised ‘Walkathon 2025’ on Sunday under the theme “Amputation Free India – Walk a Mile to Live with a Smile”.
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about vascular health and the prevention of amputations due to vascular diseases. The walkathon began from PGI’s Kairon Block and concluded at Sukhna Lake, covering a distance of 5 km. Prof L Kaman, Head of the Department of General Surgery, PGI, flagged off the event.
The walkathon witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of more than 500 participants, including medical professionals, students and citizens, from across the Tricity.
