Walkathon held to raise awareness on breast cancer at Sukhna Lake

The scenic Sukhna Lake turned wore a fresh look this evening as hundreds of participants gathered for the “Pink Walkathon” organised by Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society under its Pink October campaign. The event was held to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2025.

The walkathon was flagged off by Dr Bhavna Rai, head, Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology, PGIMER. Participants walked around the lake carrying pink balloons, placards and banners with awareness messages.

Renu Saigal, president of the Sahayta Charitable Welfare Society, spoke about the global significance of Pink October. A breast cancer survivor said this year’s theme — “Every Story is Unique, Every Journey Matters” — underlines every woman’s experience with breast cancer is personal and that equal access to quality care is essential.
