As part of the 100 Days Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination under the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the Chandigarh Health Department organised a Walkathon at Sukhna Lake to raise awareness about tuberculosis (TB) and encourage community participation in fight against the disease.The walkathon was flagged off by Dr Sushil K Mahi, Medical Superintendent, GMSH-16, Dr Paramjit Singh, DMS, GMSH-16, and Dr Rajesh Rana, State TB Officer, Chandigarh. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 250 students from various colleges, who carried banners and posters to spread awareness about TB.

The primary objective of the event was to promote awareness, reduce stigma and encourage public engagement in the nationwide effort to eliminating TB. During the event, students distributed pamphlets containing vital TB-related information, including its symptoms, services provided by the government. The walkathon concluded with the Nikshay Shapath, reaffirming the commitment to a TB-free India.
