Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh is described as walkers’ paradise, but laxity on the part of the authorities concerned is creating hindrances for the walkers. Though bicycles are banned on the pathway along the lake, some parents bring their children along with bicycles. At times, one can even see children skating, thus ignoring how dangerous it can be for themselves and others. Some workers who maintain lawns at the lake are also seen with their bicycles and so does some people who live in nearby places because the pathway at the lake provides them much-needed shortcut to their respective destinations. The authorities concerned should make Sukhna Lake as no bicycle zone from its entry gate to the regulator end. There should be proper hoardings to warn those plying bicycles or skating. Also, there is a need to check the stray dogs menace. Subhash Sapru, Chandigarh
Build separate enclosures for vendors
Some street vendors should be allowed in sectors. If someone is in Sector 17 and wants to eat street food, will the person go to the allotted sector? The authorities should be more practical. They should build separate enclosures for vendors. If the MC wants to continue with this system, then it should open easily affordable shops for vendors.
