Streetlights on a road in Wave Estate in Mohali were on during the daytime. Wastage of electricity cannot be justified in any way. The authorities concerned should pay heed to this.

Pay water bills on time

I welcome the decision by the Chandigarh MC to disconnect water supply connections of more than 5,000 residents who failed to clear outstanding bill even after notices were issued to them by the MC. The defaulters ignored repeated reminders by the MC. As responsible citizens of the city, it becomes our duty to pay all our dues well within the stipulated period because the funds collected are then used by the MC for welfare and upkeep of the city. As all of us pay our electricity, telephone, gas, credit cards and other bills well before the due date, we should not ignore our water bill. Similarly, we should deposit property tax also.

Problems for cyclists

Cyclists in Chandigarh often face problems. Not all cycle tracks are properly maintained. Car drivers should be educated not to stop on cycle tracks. The cycle tracks should be repainted so that they are easily visible. Traffic police should be vigilant that the cycle tracks are not used by other vehicles.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
