The water supply in Vikas Nagar and Baltana was restored following the repair of pipelines by the Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board after four days of disruption.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal informed that the water supply pipelines were inadvertently damaged during the execution of a sewerage project being carried out at an estimated cost of Rs 21.75 lakh.
Chandigarh Tribune had highlighted the problems being faced by women and families in the area. The department finally undertook repair work and around 2.45 am and the main water supply line was made operational.
