Chandigarh, September 23

A webinar on “Mediation before arbitration or litigation?” was organised jointly by Bangladesh International Arbitration Centre (BIAC) and International Centre for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ICADR), India. Experts stressed on advantages of mediation over arbitration and litigation as a dispute resolution tool, especially in the wake of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic.

The webinar focused on how mediation during pandemic can help resolve commercial disputes in a quick and cost effective manner, given the backlog of pending cases in courts of Bangladesh and India.

Panellists included Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, former adviser to the Government of Bangladesh and Mahbubur Rahman, chairman, BIAC.

From India, panellists included JLN Murthy, Kiran Bhardwaj and Dr Deepak Jindal, both advocates, among others. — TNS
