Amid apprehensions of community spread of Covid-19, stricter lockdown on weekends and public holidays will be observed in the district.

All citizens, except for medical staff and essential service providers, will be required to download e-pass from the COVA app in order to move out.

The industry, however, will be allowed to function normally on all days.

DC Girish Dayalan said all shops and malls would remain shut on Sundays and could be opened till 5 pm on Saturdays and gazetted holidays. Shops selling essentials can operate till 7 pm on all days. Restaurants (for take home/home delivery only) and liquor shops could be opened till 8 pm on all days, he added. — TNS
