Mohali, March 30
The administration is distributing wheat among beneficiaries of the Smart Ration Card Scheme in the district under the National Food Security Act - 2013 in the wake of 21-day national lockdown imposed to halt spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).
Mohali Deputy Commissioner (DC) Girish Dayalan said in the past three days, 2,200 quintal of wheat has been distributed through distribution centers at Mohali, Kharar, Banur, Dera Bassi, Bhabat, Majri, Mullanpur, Bhago Majra, Lalru and Kurali.
Dayalan said he had directed the District Food Supply Controller (DFSC) to speed up the distribution work and soon all beneficiaries will be covered.
Families covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) were being offered 35-kg wheat every month while priority households are being offered 5-kg wheat per person, the DC added.
“The administration has coordinated with Verka and 80,014 litre of milk has been supplied to people residing in Mohali city today,” the DC said. “Besides, Amul and other milk plants have sold 23,550 litre of milk in Mohali. Over 70,000 litre of milk is being distributed daily since the imposition of the curfew,” the DC added. “913-kg cheese, 7,395 kg of curd and 5,301 litres of buttermilk has been supplied to residents on Monday. The MARKFED vans sold essentials worth Rs 15,000,” the DC said.
