Chandigarh, July 6

A ration distribution programme was organised by Balramji Dass Tandon Charitable Foundation in which one-month ration kits were distributed among 44 widows on the doorsteps.

This scheme was started by foundation president Sanjay Tandon and the programme is held on the first Sunday of every month. After the city went under the lockdown, the foundation has been delivering kits to widows on their doorsteps. As many as 1,986 families were also helped. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
