Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek today emphasised the role of pro-active policing and active engagement of community in effective policing. Pareek took over the charge of Mohali SSP from Dr Sandeep Garg two days ago. He was earlier posted as Bathinda SSP.

Pareek said complaint disposal is another priority area where he will review complaint pendency and FIR pendency to bring it to minimal levels as soon as possible.

“We want to increase public trust and faith in police to serve them effectively. Following the new guidelines of BNS, we want to complete investigations in a professional way,” he said.

Another priority area which the SSP highlighted as his topmost agenda is curbing cyber crime and making citizens aware through social media.

“Punjab Police has hired cyber experts, economic offences investigators and legal experts in cyber crime police stations. We want to use their services actively to resolve cases quickly,” he said.

Pareek said his brief study of the area has also thrown up the issue of slow pace of tenant verification. “We will try to streamline it in the coming days,” he added.

One of the major challenges, the district police chief faces in Mohali is that of staff shortage, for example traffic police, where there are around 170 personnel, including 142 constables, in the district police.

Pareek said he will work out coordination between traffic police and PCR to give maximum relief to road users from traffic jams in the district.
