The Department of Social Welfare, Women & Child Development, Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Department of Health, celebrated National Girl Child Day today to mark a decade of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme.
The programme highlighted the city’s commitment to empowering girls and fostering gender equality through impactful initiatives. Rachna Verma, wife of UT Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma, was the chief guest.
Rachna, along with the Secretary Social Welfare, Director Social Welfare, Director Health Services, doctors and other officers of Chandigarh Administration, distributed blankets, winter clothes and Poshak Barfi to the mothers of nearly 100 newborn girls.
