Woman among three granted bail in Sector 36 cheating case
A local court has granted bail to two persons Lal Bihari and Shiva and a woman, all residents of Uttar Pradesh, arrested in a cheating case registered on the complaint of an NRI woman.
The police registered the case on June 6 under various sections of the IPC at police station, Sector 36, Chandigarh, on a complaint of a woman, Chander Mohini Sharma. She told the police that she was an NRI and had a house on plot no. 625, Sector 36-B, Chandigarh.
She said as she could not visit her house for quite a long time, the accused persons trespassed her house and occupied the annexe portion area after breaking open its lock. They even used and damaged the goods lying in the annexe.
She came to know about the trespass in 2022 by a person living in the locality. The matter was reported to the police but the accused tried to take possession of her house. The accused also filed a false civil suit, claiming themselves to be the caretaker of the house. Not only this, they even got some documents like Aadhar card and GPA forged, claiming that they were occupants of the property.
Abhinay Goel, counsel for the accused, denied the allegations and said they had been implicated in the false case. On the other hand, public prosecution opposed the bail.
After hearing the arguments the court granted the bail to the accused. The court said the investigation had already been completed and at this stage there was no apprehension that in case the applicants were released on bail, then they would pressurise the complainant as she was residing abroad.
