A 45-year-old woman, a mother of five, died in a freak accident after her dupatta got entangled in a drill machine at an industrial unit in Phase 7 here.

Victim Urmila, a native of Kushinagar, UP, was employed as a helper in Continental Engineering and Power Private Limited for the past over three years. Her husband Hari Lal Tewari is also employed in the firm.

The victim was taken to the ESI hospital where she was declared dead. The kin of the deceased lamented that no police official came to the spot for hours. Cops reached the hospital first and visited the spot later.

Factory officials claimed that there were instructions that workers cannot work with dupatta or loose garments, but failed to explain how the victim entered the unit with a dupatta.
