Acknowledging contribution of women to uplift society, Rotary Club, Mohali, in association with the PCA Ladies Club, honoured 22 women on Women’s Day.

These women have done work in the fields of education and environment, besides effective resolution of domestic violence and rehabilitation of drug addicts in society.

Mohali officiating Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain while handing over the awards lauded resilience of these women. Jain expressed confidence that this would certainly go a long way in inspiring others to come forward and do their bit for progress of society.

Famous TV personality Savita Bhatti said women have proved themselves in every sphere around the world and a time has come to propel even further in life.

She said world cannot progress by leaving half of its population behind and women are capable of bringing a positive change in society.

Harjeet Singh, president, Rotary Club, said they will adopt 25 school dropouts who would be trainded by Mahindra Institute of Skill Development, besides introducing a course for plumbers and electricians at the Rotary Vocational Training Centre in Mohali.
