To help the start-up ecosystem flourish and explore new ways to mobilise stake, the fifth edition of TiECON Chandigarh-2020, North India’s biggest start-up and Entrepreneurial Event will be held on February 29 at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali.

With a central theme — Ideate, Innovate and Leap — the conference will focus on opportunities and challenges faced by young and emerging entrepreneurs. It will be attended by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and will witness participation of over 1,500 participants and over 60 renowned speakers will be interacting with the aspiring entrepreneurs.

The main attraction of the event will be “Sophia”, world’s first humanoid. It will the first when the human robot will take part in any event in North India. The humanoid, modeled after the ancient Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, is known for human-like appearance and behaviour compared to previous robotic variants.

Around 150 companies would be showcasing their product at the Expo stalls and start–up bazaar. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, summit’s prime focus is to nurture future leaders and entrepreneurs.

“The conference will focus on issues confronting the start-ups eco-system in the northern region. It will also focus on subject such as scale and sustain a start-up. Our idea, is to nurture start –ups in the north region, so that it can emerge as one of the potential job opportunities for the youth,” said Munish Jauhar, president, TiE, Chandigarh Chapter.

Stressing upon need to strengthen the start-up ecosystem in North India, IS Paul, Managing Director, Drish Shoes Ltd said, “The Northern region has lot of educational institutes, but job opportunities are limited.” —TNS
