Chandigarh, August 3
Local challenger Yashasvi Balhara had a field day as he faced a fierce challenge by Rajasthan’s Harshom Sanjeev Gupta before moving ahead on the opening day of the CLTA-AITA National Ranking Tennis Championship. In the men’s singles qualifying (1st) round, Yashasvi recorded a 9-8(2) win over Gupta after a neck-and-neck fight.
Punjab’s Prabhsifat Singh, meanwhile, logged easy 9-3 win over Utkarsh Yadav of Rajasthan, while local lad Gaurish Madaan defeated Punjab’s Tanveer Singh 9-5. Haryana’s Aryan Vij also moved into the next round by defeating Yasharth Chaddha 9-4, and Abhinav Bisht of Uttar Pradesh outplayed Devanshu Raval of Gujarat 9-5.
Aaditya Ranawade defeated Avi Choudhary without losing a single game, while Keshav Dangi defeated Jaideep Singh 9-2. Another local lad, Love Pahal moved head by defeating Sarthak Pradhan 9-4 and Svarmanyu Singh ousted Aryan Aggarwal 9-2. Virat Tomer also marched into second round as he defeated Abhay Chaudhary 9-6 and Arjun Jasmin Oza blanked Karanvir Jindal 9-0. — TNS
