Yashaswini-Harmeet enter mixed double TT finals
Top-seed pair Yashaswini Ghorpade and Harmeet Desai of Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, along with the third-seed RBI duo of Diya Chitale and Manush Shah advanced to the mixed doubles final of the ongoing RBI@90 51st Institutional Table Tennis Championships held at Panjab University’s gymnasium hall today.
In the semifinals, the team of Yashaswini and Harmeet defeated Poymantee and Akash Pal of Railways Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) 11-9, 10-12, 12-10, 11-4, while Diya and Manush of the RBI defeated Sutirtha and Ronit of the RSPB 8-11, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-9. Earlier in the day, the seeded pairs showed no signs of fatigue after completing their group qualification match in the men’s and women’s singles events.
Meanwhile, the knockout rounds for the men’s and women’s singles kicked off later in the day. In quarterfinals, Yashaswini and Harmeet defeated Shruti Amrute and Anirban Ghosh of the RSPB 11-8, 11-7, 12-10, while the team of Poymantee and Aakash ousted Taneesha Kotecha and Jash Modi 11-7, 11-8, 11-6. Diya and Manush ousted Seleena and Deepti Selvakumar 14-12, 11-4, 11-9, and Sutirtha and Ronit outplayed Anjali Rohilla and Himnakulpuingheta Jeho of IA&AD 11-7, 11-5, 11-6.
