Dera Bassi, March 6

Immediately after the Reserve Bank of India capped withdrawal amount (Rs 50,000) for Yes Bank customers, hundred of account holders rushed to the branch and ATMs in Dera Bassi, leading to chaos.

A customer on condition of anonymity said she has a salary account in the bank and was unable to withdraw money. “My friends also have their accounts in Yes Bank. We are worried about our money,” she said.

Bank staff at this branch had a tough time to calm down account holders.

The biggest worry is among those customers who have home loans linked with Yes Bank. A default in an EMI means that the credit score of an individual would get adversely affected.

The RBI has capped the withdrawal limit at Rs 50,000. However, there are a few exceptions as one can withdraw up to Rs 5 lakh in case of a medical emergency, higher education, marriage and unforeseen expenditures.
