Chandigarh: A yoga awareness rally was organised on the Panjab University campus by NSS volunteers here on Monday. The rally was flagged off by Dr Rohit Kumar Sharma, Director, Department of Youth Welfare, PU. Dr Mohinder Kumar from Government College of Yoga, Sector 23, appreciated NSS volunteers for organising the rally. The main objective of this rally was to educate all residents about the importance of yoga. TNS

Yoga Day celebrated

Chandigarh: The Department of Music, Panjab University, celebrated International Yoga Day here on Monday. Students, faculty and the staff of the department participated in the event. Prof Neelam Paul, Chairperson, Department of Music, on the occasion explained how yoga reduces stress in student life and keep the body and mind healthy. TNS

Workshop on yoga practice

Chandigarh: A yoga practice workshop was organised for all the volunteers of NSS at Panjab University here on Monday. Yoga expert Mohit Vasudev from Swami Vivekananda Study Centre, PU, apprised NSS volunteers about yoga and how to make life healthier by doing ‘asanas’ in the right way. TNS

Sanskrit department holds lecture

Chandigarh: Special lecture on Karmavipakasamhita was organised by the Department of Sanskrit, Panjab University, at Panini Pustakalaya. The keynote speaker on the occasion was Caterina Guenzi, Associate Professor, Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, and also a researcher at the Centre for South Asian Studies, Paris. She is currently in the city working on a rare Sanskrit text called Vrddhasuryarunakarmavipaka. Students of MA (Sanskrit), research scholars and faculty members attended the lecture. TNS

Aryans Institute gets new Principal

Ambala: An ex-faculty, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Sangrur, Nidhi Chopra, joined as Principal at Aryans Institute of Nursing, Rajpura, near Chandigarh, recently. Nidhi Chopra has been into teaching profession for the last more than 15 years. Nidhi said, “I am happy and excited to work in Aryans Institute of Nursing. The healthcare industry is transforming day-by-day. There is a need to polish students’ skills to make them better nursing professionals.”
