A day after an SUV of the BJP MLA from Panipat, Parmod Vij, parked at MLA Hostel in Sector 3, was vandalised and set on fire, the UT police nabbed one of the suspects.

SP (City) Ketan Bansal said the suspect, identified as Himanshu (24), alias Hemu, a resident of Nada village, Mohali, was nabbed near the Kansal turn. He is a cloth vendor.

The white Ford Ikon used in the crime has also been recovered. The police said Himanshu, along with Mukesh, Tillu and others, had come to the Sector 10 market for dinner. They had an altercation with the driver and the gunman accompanying the MLA over reversing the car in the parking lot. To take revenge, they vandalised the SUV. — TNS
