Youth arrested from Hisar in Amaravati Mall murder case
The Panchkula police have arrested an accused from Hisar who allegedly sheltered the shooters and helped destroy evidence, in the Amaravati Mall murder case. Sonu Naulta (32), who ran a transport business, was killed in the attack outside the mall in June.
The DCP (Crime) Manpreet Singh Sudan confirmed the arrest, carried out by a team of the detective staff.
ACP (Crime) Arvind Kamboj said on September 7, a team, led by Sub-Inspector Mandeep Singh, arrested the accused, Surender (28), a resident of Hisar.
Investigations revealed that around 4 am on June 6, Surender received a call. The caller informing him that the prime accused, Piyush and Ankush, were on their way to Hisar after the killing of Sonu Naulta outside Amaravati Mall. Surender arranged a place to hide for them and later helped shift them to another location. He is also accused of taking their weapons to a different place.
The police said the accused further assisted Piyush in receiving treatment for a gunshot wound he sustained during the assault on Naulta. He was also involved in creating and circulating a video after the murder. His full criminal background is now under scrutiny, and investigators are probing his wider role in the conspiracy.
Meanwhile, Surender was produced before the court and remanded in three-day police custody for interrogation. Police teams continue raids to nab the prime accused, Piyush and Ankush.
Sonu Naulta (32), who ran a transport business, and his cousin Nitin Panwar, alias Prince (20), were attacked outside Amravati Mall near Pinjore on the night of June 5. They had gone to the mall to watch a movie along with their friends.
