Youth kidnapped after tiff at hotel
The police have registered a case against SUV-borne miscreants for allegedly kidnapping a 21-year-old youth from Sector 34. The incident occurred in the early hours of December 8, when the victim, Rubeak Singh Mann, had gone to a hotel after watching Karan Aujla’s concert.
Mann, a resident of Sector 71, reported the incident to the police several days later, after which a case was registered on December 12.
According to the victim, he had gone to the concert with friends and later visited a hotel in Sector 34 to meet a friend of his father. While at the hotel, a man entered into an argument with his father’s friend and left the premises.
Around 2:10 am, as Mann was leaving the hotel, the same man returned there along with three accomplices. They allegedly kidnapped him in an SUV. The suspects reportedly threatened him that they would throw him into a canal in Haryana or take him to Himachal Pradesh and kill him there.
Mann said he was beaten inside the vehicle and later taken to Mohali, where the kidnappers made him apologise and made a video.
The assailants allegedly robbed Mann of Rs 2,200, a smart watch and his ATM card before dropping him back at Sector 34. The police have registered a case at the Sector 34 police station.
