The state celebrated the 15th National Voters’ Day with a state-level event held at the Government Post Graduate College, Sector 1.

The programme, which was attended by Home Secretary Sumita Mishra as the chief guest, saw her emphasise on the importance of youth participation and ethical voting practices.

A voter awareness rally involving schoolchildren was flagged off. It was later followed by a visit to a voter awareness exhibition.

Meanwhile, the Election Department’s 2025 calendar was also released during the celebration programme.

Youth excelling in proposal writing were honored with certificates and cash prizes. Competition winners included Muskan of the Indira Gandhi College was conferred with Rs 7,500, Anjali of the Deshbandhu College, Panipat, with Rs 5,500 and the Aryan of Government Post Graduate College, Panchkula, with Rs 4,000.

Further at the school level, Pooja Singla of the Ars Girls Public School, Panipat, received Rs 7,000, Mahi of the Shiv Gurukulam Senior Secondary School, Chhatar, Rs 5,500 and a Rewari student Rs 4,000.

Haryana Chief Election Officer (CEO) Pankaj Aggarwal further highlighted efforts to ensure voter registration for individuals over 18 years of age and introduced initiatives such as home voting for the elderly and persons with diasbilities.

Multiple street plays and cultural presentations conveyed messages about the importance of ethical voting, with other dignitaries such as Additional Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Hema Sharma and Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Himadri Kaushik also being in attendance.
