Youth play key role in nation building: Tibetan spiritual leader Choekyong Palga
Tibetan Buddhist spiritual leader Choekyong Palga Rinpoche delivered an insightful talk on the theme “Role of Youth in Nation Building” at an interactive session held at the Law Auditorium, Panjab University, today.
The event, organised by the PU Dean Students Welfare in collaboration with Ladakh Phanday Tsogspa and Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, aimed to address issues important to Ladakh.
In his address, Rinpoche, the eighth incarnation in the Drukpa lineage, better known as the “Monk who sold his Maserati”, advised students to lead lives of discipline and mindfulness. He emphasized that personal growth and resilience were key to overcoming modern challenges like depression, anxiety, and overthinking. Only strong individuals, he suggested, could effectively contribute to building a prosperous nation.
The Guest of Honour, Kuldeep Agnihotri, also spoke on the relevance of Buddhist philosophy in today’s world, highlighting its potential to guide individuals toward peace and mental clarity.
In her presidential address, PU Vice-Chancellor Renu Vig praised the event for setting a new trend, stepping beyond academic discussions to focus on fostering a healthy value system. She encouraged students to heed Rinpoche’s teachings for personal and societal growth.
The event saw participation from a diverse audience, including university students, affiliated colleges, and families from Ladakh, all eager to engage with the spiritual insights shared.
